Cat, Don and Jordan

Discovery Weekend batchmate couple, Cat and Dondon, hired me to take photos of their lovely, growing family.

Taking photos of a one-year-old toddler can be challenging: for the photograhpher, who wants to get good shots; for the baby, who is still trying to get accustomed to a stranger suddenly taking her pictures; and for the parents, who are eager to get their little one to ‘pose’ for the camera.

As a new parent to a little baby boy, I learned to be patient when handling squirming little munchkins who prefer to run and play than smile for the camera. You can’t make them smile, act, or pose exactly the way you want them to. And there will be lots of breaks: for feedings, for nappy changes, to soothe or calm them down, to get their interest when bored, and everything else in between.

The key to capturing their unique personalities is just to keep them happy and relaxed to enjoy the company of their parents.
