We Shoot JPEG

As a backup photographer of Cebu’s female wedding photographer, Shutterfairy. We’ve been shooting jpeg since 2015. Yes, you heard it right. It’s JPEG. Why? Below are the 7 reasons why we shoot JPEG.

1. It’s light and faster

JPEG files are light, not too heavy and faster to take photos with our current affordable SD cards. That is the one of the reasons why we shoot JPEG. It’s also fast to transfer and backup files.

2. Clients are not pixel peeper

Client doesn’t care about the pixels. What they care are the best moment captured by professional photographer. And professional services are perfectly executed.

3. Flat look is not a big deal

Why flat look is not a big deal? Because you are on a flat screen not in a 3d hologram to view the photos. LOL! And clients doesn’t know about those geeky stuffs!

4. We don’t backup RAW

RAW is too large to backup in an external hard drive or cloud server. We aren’t rich to earn $10,000 a month to backup RAW photos to an expensive server. And also, why backup raw for client’s photos if you are not editing it again.

5. We only backup finish product

Yes, you heard it right. The only files we backup are photos that are already edited. Not RAW. Those finish product are for future purposes such as, giving client’s photos if they lost theirs, or print album and large prints in a frame in-case they want to avail for the services.

6. It’s about good photographs

If you are good in your work and very creative. Why you shouldn’t shoot in RAW? Clients don’t get the RAW files, what they will receive as final products are the edited raw photos converted in to JPEG.

7. Post processing

Editing all the photos are not a problem for my friend, because she has her own style of editing the photos and it look’s good.

I SHOOT RAW

I shoot JPEG to my main photographer because, she is a Canon user and I am Nikon. If I am to shoot for my personal clients, I shoot RAW. Why? It is to recover the best shadow details. Only Nikon and Sony can do it. And Canon will not be able to compete with those two when it comes to dynamic range. Fuji XT-2 is now up in the game for battle of the dynamic range too and I love it. LOL!
